In honor of John Ricketson, a prominent community business leader and publisher for the Apopka Chief and Planter for over 45 years, the Apopka Serves Foundation (501 c3) is proud to introduce the John Ricketson Career Education Scholarship Fund. This scholarship aims to support local students with a focus on budding leaders in business, entrepreneurship, and technical careers.
John Ricketson was a dedicated supporter of business leaders and DECA in high schools for many years. John’s commitment to education and belief in the potential of young leaders inspired many. John’s own journey was influenced by a teacher from a DECA chapter, and underscores the importance of mentorship, education, and the guidance of business leaders in shaping the future.
DECA Inc., a nonprofit career and technical student organization, played a pivotal role in John’s educational and professional development. It is with this spirit of mentorship and empowerment that the Apopka Serves Foundation has formed the John Ricketson Career Education Scholarship Fund, seeking to provide opportunities for students to pursue their aspirations in business, entrepreneurship, and technical fields.
Through the generosity and support of the community, the Apopka Serves Foundation is dedicated to keeping JR Ricketson’s legacy of service and community alive for years to come.
